Natural, Handmade & Kind
We are a small family run business committed to handmaking body products that are free from the "chemical - overload" we are exposed to everyday. We are passionate about our handmade soaps & bodycare and the beneficial reasons for using them. There is nothing quite like bathing with a quality soap that has been carefully and creatively handmade with the skin and environment in mind.
We have a variety of ranges which have been specifically created to be beneficial as well as pleasurable to use. Our products have been researched to find the best ingredients to promote our ethos of being "kind to the skin". Our soaps are made using the traditional cold processed method which retains all the goodness and the natural moisturiser - glycerine. Most commercial soaps have this lovely ingredient taken out which is why soap can be very drying on the skin. Our handmade soaps have no artificial ingredients and no unnecessary chemicals added to produce colour, fragrances, texture or added preservatives. We only use fresh and natural ingredients such as pure essential oils, dried herbs and flowers, and a variety of specialty organic oils such as avocado, jojoba, shea butter, and lots more. These are just a few of the lovelies we add to make our soaps special and kind! We do not buy in soap bases (soap called 'melt & pour'), we make all of our soaps from scratch using organic vegetable oils. We do not use SLS, EDTA, PARABENS or any other nasty chemicals. Our soaps are suitable for vegetarians & vegans (except soaps that contain bee products & goat's milk). We are strongly opposed to animal testing or harming animals in any way. All of our soaps have been safety tested and comply with current EU legislation and regulations. Our soaps and products are made at home in our specially adapted workshop, based in Leicester (Midlands, UK).
As a small developing business one of our main aims includes finding sources that are environmentally friendly - we recycle as much as we can at home and for the business, we use minimal packaging which can be recycled and we believe strongly in reusing wherever possible. Currently we are using Ellie Poo paper for most of our packaging. This paper is manufactured from 75% post consumer waste & 25% elelphant dung. The dung is collected by the handlers in Sri Lanka and provides an extra income for the locals to care for the elephants. We also use recycled boxes for the packaging of our gifts, and glass which can be recycled. We also try to buy as many ingredients as possible from local sources to support our local communities, such as Swithland spring water, honey & beeswax from a local beekeeper, and flour & corn products from a local mill.
You can order our products online using the secure Paypal system. If you would prefer to order over the telephone or by post, please find our details on the 'Contact' page. We accept payment through Paypal, cheques or cash. The standard postage & packaging fee is £2.99, or spend over £25.00 to receive free delivery on all items!
Please Note - photographs & new products are being added on a regular basis. Weights are approximate - every bar is handcut and no two are identical. With the nature of handmade soap - the bars will continue to lose moisture over time, they must be kept in a dry ventilated area/package to allow them to breath. Colour & scent may vary/change over time due to the natural ingredients used within each soap. Prices & product range are subject to change.
ABOUT US
Having lots of family members with varying degrees of eczema, I have become familiar with seeing the uncomfortable itching / scratching cycle and poor conditioned skin. Reading ingredients on labels of everyday products has become an unconscious ritual. Having a small child with eczema was my motivation and passionate drive behind making my own bodyproducts, which I knew would be free from harsh chemicals and unneccessary synthetic ingredients. The more I researched the ingredients in everyday products the more determined I became to find replacements for all the products in my bathroom and household. So I started having a go at making my own soap in my kitchen (as a hobby) and gave lots away to family and friends to test for me. It quickly became apparent a small business was developing as more people became interested in using the soap and my ethos behind it. As I developed my skills as a soapmaker, information about herbs, essential oils and base oils became a fascination for me and I loved experimenting with new recipes.
I hope you enjoy our soaps and see a difference in your skin, I certainly have! - Keilly Sturgess (founder of Mad About Nature)
All of our soaps carry our original stamp & arrive to you handwrapped in recycled Ellie Poo paper.
